Lovely people of Africa, there are many things I wish I could do to revert this unfortunate incident but as we all know, one cannot go back in time.

I had the opportunity of a lifetime to entertain Africa on the most coveted platform but I messed it up due to my act of indiscipline.

I hereby render my deepest heartfelt apology to all the people of Africa, to the people of my motherland Ghana, to the entire Big Brother Africa team, my cherished housemates and most importantly to Zainab and her family.

I am fully and solely responsible for my actions and I under no circumstance justify hitting a woman no matter the level of provocation.
To all my dedicated viewers, fans and critics, I say thank you for all the support. I am truly sorry for letting you down and I promise that I would never repeat such unscrupulous behavior.

This is my sincere apology and I hope it is accepted.

Modenine then said ’It’s all good, I don’t take anything personal, this is the industry. We are here to make money out of this sh*t. SHout out to Ayo Shonaiya, for those who don’t know I’ve known him for like 10 years’. 

DJ Spinall then threw on Notorious B.I.G’s ‘Juicy’ soundtrack which Modenine and Muna freestyled to while the crowd rhymed along.

Muna had been under heavy criticism, following a verbal exchange she had with Modenine, a revered rapper, during the recording of a Nokia competition.

The event was attended by DJ Jimmy JATT, Ayo Animashaun, DJ Abass, DJ Tee, Illbliss, Clarence Peters with performances from RMG acts Axterix and Michael Word, as well as Waje, Orezi, Tha Suspect, El Emcee, IBK, Phenom.

Uche (her surname withheld) was an Accountancy part time student of a Federal University, before her death recently. She was one of the happening babes in town, although she likes doing her things in her own little way.

In fact, a lot of her course mates doesn't know her because she was quiet and she doesn't talk to anyone in her class. She's from Imo State; her father is late while her mother stays in the village.

Uche,we learnt met the America based guy in one restaurant in Abuja.

Roland spoilt her silly with money and gift; he even bought for her, an exotic car and promised to marry her. She was very happy that she has finally met the man of her dream, especially considering the fact that the guy also hails from the same place with her.

Few weeks after Uche met Roland, she started spending almost every day with him.

Roland spent 6 weeks in Nigeria before going back to the United States; he even gave Uche an engagement ring that she flaunts before her friends.

Uche kept most of the things she shared with Roland to herself until she fell ill and went to about 3 hospitals, where she was told there was nothing wrong with her.

One of her friends who stayed with her, later took her to a white garment church in Kubwa,a suburb of Abuja.

The Prophet, we gathered saw vision about her predicament and advised Uche to confess what has happened to her or else she will die, initially she didn't want to talk but after much persuasion from her friends, she did.

She said, Roland likes adventure, so he suggested they should do some nasty things. She said Roland had a dog he cherishes, and he suggested she sleeps with the dog while he watches her, she said she didn't want to do it, but later she had sex with the dog, her friend further revealed that,Uche was angry after the sex with dog show, but Roland begged her and gave her a car key(Infinity Jeep), assuring her nothing will happen to her.

Roland left the country the following day, and promised to start processing her papers to come to the United States once he gets back to U.S.

Uche's friend and the prophet called the guy but the number didn't exist.

They also asked her for the address of Roland's house in Abuja but they didn't get the address she described.

The Prophet advised she should be taking back home while she beg God to save her, because she has been used for rituals.

Uche died few days later.

This is one gift horse which, contrary to traditional saying, must be inspected thoroughly in the mouth.

Primary from all of us must be a plea to the MKO Abiola family not to misconstrue the protests against the naming of the University of Lagos after their heroic patriarch.

Issues must be separated and understood in their appropriate contexts. The family will acknowledge that, among the loudest opposing voices to Jonathan’s gift horse, are those who have clamoured tirelessly that MKO Abiola, the Nigerian nation’s president-elect, be honoured nationally, and in a befitting manner.

Next is my confession to considerable shock that President Goodluck Jonathan did not even think it fit to consult or inform the administrators of the university, including Council and Senate, of his intention to re-name their university for any reason, however laudable. This arbitrariness, this act of disrespect, was a barely tolerated aberration of military governance. It is totally deplorable in what is supposed to be a civilian order.
After that comes the bad-mouthing of MKO Abiola and the Nigerian electorate by President Jonathan who referred to MKO as the “presumed winner” of a historic election. While applauding the president for finally taking the bull by the horn and rendering honour unto whom honour is due, the particularities of this gesture have made it dubious, suspect, and tainted.

You do not honour someone while detracting from his or her record of achievement. MKO Abiola was not a presumed winner, but the President-elect of a nation, and thus universally acknowledged.
It is sad, very sad, that after his predecessor who, for eight full years of presidency, could not even bear to utter the name of a man who made his own incumbency possible, along comes someone who takes back with the left hand what the right has offered.
However, there is hope. Legalists have claimed that there is a legal flaw to the entire process. The university, solidly backed by other tertiary institutions nation-wide, should immediately proceed to the courts of law and demand a ‘stay of execution’. That should give President Jonathan time to re-consider and perhaps shift his focus to the nation’s capital for institutions begging for rituals of re-naming.

After all, it is on record that the House of Assembly did once resolve that the Abuja stadium be named after the man already bestowed the unique title of “Pillar of African Sports”.

He deserved that, and a lot more. What he did not deserve is to be, albeit posthumously, the centre of a fully avoidable acrimony, one that has now resulted in the shutting down one of the institutions of learning to whose cause, the cause of learning, President-elect MKO Abiola also made unparalleled private contributions.
Let me end by stressing that my position remains the same as it was when the University of Ife was re-named Obafemi Awolowo University.

1.   1.It is with a heavy heart that I issue this press release regarding the vile rumors published by National Mirror and Daily Independent, and which has now gone viral in over 100,000 websites and blogs in the last one week, to the effect I had confessed to being gay, and to being the head of the dreaded illuminati fraternity in Nigeria. In all my years as a Public Commentator, Human Rights Activist and Entertainer, I have never had to deal with such an insidious report that appears to be directly calculated to portray me in the worst possible light at a time such as this. The two leading newspapers did not just claim to be reporting an opinion; they actually reported these wicked lies as FACTS!


2.    2. For the avoidance of any doubt, I want to assure Nigerians that I am NOT gay and I am NOT part of any organization called the ‘illuminati’ in any way shape or form. I also categorically state that any reports of my alleged ‘confession’ to any newspaper is a figment of the imagination of my detractors, and a very insidious attempt to destroy my hard-earned reputation, and that of my Charly Boy brand, all in the mad rush of some newspapers, specifically the National Mirror and the Daily Independent, to increase their circulation through spurious and attention grabbing stories.


3.   3. Ordinarily, I would not be alarmed if this attack is coming from faceless people or inconsequential such as the Danfo Express, the newspaper that the Daily Mirror and Daily Independent claimed to have first reported the story. I would probably also not have been so upset if these newspapers were simply voicing their fair opinions of my personal life or business life. That would be all par for the course for my brand and persona, which has been admittedly controversial over the years, due to my relentless pursuit of justice for the people, fight for the rights of musicians and my tireless energy in extending the boundaries of creative entertainment in my legitimate bid to maximize my creative talents. It is however a different thing entirely when otherwise reputable organizations such as the DAILY MIRROR AND THE DAILY INDEPENDENT took it upon themselves to champion A NON-EXISTENT ALLEGED CONFESSION as FACT! These Newspapers have deliberately reported as FACT that I ‘confessed to being a gay and head of illuminati in Nigeria’. These newspapers inexplicably did this without the elementary courtesy of checking this explosive story with me before going to town with their attention grabbing headlines. Yet, the management of these newspapers knew, or ought to have known, that an explosive story of a ‘confession to being gay or head of illuminati’ will certainly lead to incalculable damage, even to a controversial brand such as mine.


4.    4. I am further grieved that having given an opportunity to the two mainstream daily papers that broke this story, DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT, to publicly retract this story and apologize for their error, through personal texts, emails, and even letters form my attorneys, these newspapers have continued to ignore my plight and distress with their false reporting. Rather than showing genuine remorse in order to convince me that the error was unintentional, THEY HAVE FAILED, REFUSED AND NEGLECTED TO RETRACT THE STORY OR APOLOGISE FOR SAME. Even as of the release of this Press Release, these damaging stories are still very much visible on the online pages of these newspapers. This has further confirmed my suspicions that these newspapers only cared about increasing their circulation rather than reporting the truth, or protecting the reputation of a public figure such as mine.


5.    5. Ever since these stories broke, with the DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT leading the way among the daily newspapers, I have been inundated with angry calls by my friends, admirers, business associates and family members who have expressed their disgust, disappointment and shock at the ‘confessions’ they have been reading about in different forums. My businesses have irreparably suffered and my family seriously mortified in the public eye. The general public, who believed these false stories, because it was coming from seemingly reputable organizations, such as National Mirror and National Independent, have also vilified me in hundreds of thousands of posts and comments on different blogs, websites and social networking forums. I have essentially become an object of ridicule worldwide as a result of these wicked lies being reported as FACT. In fact, one of my daughters recently wrote me a heart-breaking letter on how this development has affected her emotionally to the point where she was even ashamed and scared of going out in public!


6. 6.In order to protect my name and my brand from ignominious extinction by the recalcitrant newspapers that started these false lies, DAILY MIRROR AND DAILY INDEPENEDENT, I have therefore given very firm instructions to my attorneys to do everything legally possible to hold the people responsible for this accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Since they have refused to apologize and retract their vicious lies, they will be made to face the full wrath of the law. I have made a career of fighting for the rights of others and I will certainly not be shy in fighting for my own rights in a situation such as this.

7. In conclusion, I sincerely ask for ALL responsible members of the Press to respect my fundamental human right to dignity, by not continuing to perpetuate this falsehood and malicious rumors. I also want to implore those who have innocently repeated these damaging lies on their blogs, websites and social forums to make efforts to remove the same from their publications even as I continue to hold the chief perpetrators, DAILY MIRROR AND NATIONAL INDEPENDENT, primarily accountable for starting this public lynching of my name and reputation.

The Federal government has announced that it will not revert its decision of renaming the University of Lagos after the late winner of the 1993 presidential elections and business mogul, MKO Abiola.

Speaking to state house correspondents after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku said  that what the president did was an answer to the outcry of concerned Nigerians who witnessed the events of June 12 and the subsequent demise of the man that was the acclaimed winner of the election.

The Minister called on Nigerians not to allow the protest by some students to overshadow the significance of the president’s decision to immortalize  Abiola.

Students of the University of Lagos have taking to the streets for two days consecutively after the pronouncement to protest the name change of the 50 year old institution.

M.I, WAJE AND THREADSTONE TO PERFORM AT ROCK NITE

ICE PRINCE ADMITS HE’S A DAD

Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani popularly known as Ice Prince has finally admitted to being a father – two months after we broke the story back in march 2012

The Chocolate City rapper disclosed this while speaking Vanessa Offiong of Nigerian newspaper Weekly Trust’s Weekend Magazine in an interview published over the weekend.

When asked what the experience was like about being a ‘new dad’ and how it was fitting that into his schedule, he responded: ‘Yes I am. I have a strong team around me and we are able to schedule our events properly. This gives me time to take care of all the things that I need to take care of’.

On March 1, 2012, 20-year-old former Houdegbe North American University undergraduate Bimbo Babatunde delivered a baby boy (since named Toluwalase) for Ice Prince.

The rapper had before now, repeatedly denied he’s the father of Bimbo’s child. The baby was born in March 1, 2012.

Ice Prince was recently nominated for the 2012 BET Award in the ‘Best International Act: Africa’ category, alongside compatriot Wizkid.

News: Charles Taylor sentenced to 50 years in prison

Liberia's former president Charles Taylor was this morning sentenced to 50 years in prison for war crimes at an international war crimes court, in The Hague.

Taylor was found guilty last month of 11 counts of aiding and abetting was crimes and crimes against humanity by supporting rebels between 1996 and 2002 in return for conflict diamonds. He was convicted of offenses including murder, rape, sexual slavery, recruiting child soldiers, enforced amputations and pillage.

We are resisting UNILAG's change of name, Says ASUU

The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Lagos branch, Dr Karo Ogbinaka, has said that the union will resist the recent change of the university's name.

Dr Ogbinaka said:

We are resisting it, all the unions and the students will resist it, the Alunmus will resist it. The truth about the whole thing is that it shows the level of intelligence of those people in government. Nobody will change Harvard's name, nobody will change Cambridge's name to Winston Churchill University. University of Lagos is a brand, for 50 years. Students of the University of Lagos this morning organised a protest against the renaming of the institution after the late acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola.

President Goodluck Jonathan had in a national broadcast early on Tuesday announced the renaming of the institution after Abiola for his contribution to democracy in Nigeria.

The protesting students began gathering in groups in the main campus at Akoka, Lagos immediately after the president’s announcement.

They subsequently trooped out of their hostels chanting protests songs and denouncing the change of the institution’s name.

They also blocked access to the institution and disrupted traffic on University of Lagos Road and St. Finbarrs’ College Road.

Officials the institution came out to beg the students to go back to campus saying, “We are with you.” Students shouted “NO”.

The university’s Director of Student Affairs, Olukayode Amund, was among the official who came out to beg the students to calm down.

Premium Times, an online newspaper reported the director as saying “We were all taken back. There was no due consultation and they said this is a democracy.”

The paper also reported, Bolanle Ajayi, a student of the University as saying, “Change of name is the least of our problems. Besides, there is MAPOLY, already named after Abiola.”
